Conmebol Women’s under 20 championship

Venezuela eliminated Argentina from the tournament in a very tightly contested game with little clear opportunities as both teams cancelled each other out. It took a fantastic free kick from Barbara Oliveiri to break the deadlock on 73 minutes curling the set peice into the top corner from fully 30 yards. Oliveiri sealed the victory in the 89th minute with a second dead ball strike however she received a red card for mouthing off in her celebration in the direction of the Argentina players. In stoppage time Dalila Ippolito frustration took over and in swinging a arm at Alexandra Giusti, who was shepherding the ball out for a goal kick, also received her marching orders to compound Argentina’s misery. The victory meant Venezuela clinched first place in the group.
