Women’s Football Results March 29-Apr 2, 11 years old Rachael Alieu assists Mogbwemo to Championship glory , as BUSA Queens crowned champions in Burundi

Rachael Alieu at age 11 achieved a duel landmark she becomes the youngest ever to play and win silverware in the history of the Sierra Leone top-flight leagues for the male and female categories respectively after Mogbwemo Queens were crowned as champions of the maiden Women’s Premier League in Sierra Leone on Friday, 31st March 2023.

Mogbwemo Queens were crowned champions of the inaugural Sierra Leone Women’s Premier League in front of a excited crowd , Mogbwemo completed their season with a second half Goal from Rashidatu Kamara to seal the championship title .

In Burundi , Buja Queens were crowned champions in a final day 4-0 victory at Bon Avenir to claim the title by 1 point over runners up Fofila who ended the campaign with a similar scoreline over Les Lionnes .

Evdokia Popadinova scored a dramatic late winner to ensure Bulgaria 🇧🇬 remains 100% in the tournament. Gentjana Rochi hád given the North Macedonians a early lead rounding off a sweeping move , before Alexandra Yaneva scored 7 minutes later . It remained a tightly hard thought contest before Popadinova slotted home at the near right post in the 87th minute to the delight of her team mates.

The match was outside tournament play as a friendly due to the late withdrawal from the tournament of Jordan ,  the two associations agreed to play a friendly .

The match was a tight contest as Zambia dominated with possession coming up against a dogged North Macedonia defense who seemed to have held Zambia at bay in a tightly fought contest , before a  late strike by Grace Chanda in additional time earned Zambia the victory .

Zambia will start tournament play on February 18 when they face Slovênia ,  North Macedonia will face off against Bulgaria .

Kosovo fought from behind to defeat Estonia 2-1.  Vlada Kubasova had put Estonia in front before Elísabeta Ejupi levelled matters before the interval .  In the second period Kosovo got on top and deservedly took the lead when Erëleta Memeti scored from close range

A strong start from Bulgaria saw two early goals , firstly Evdokia Popadinova headed home a inswinging freekick that deceived the keeper from close range.  Constant pressure saw Ivana Naydenova pounce at the far post striking home a rebound in the near right post from the six yard line.  Bulgaria remained dominant but the dogged Hong Kong defence tightened and Bulgaria settled for the 2-0 victory .

In the final match of the day Slovenia defeated a spirited Uzbekistan 2-1. Lara Prasnikar broke the deadlock from close range taking advantage of a attempted clearance that fell for her to strike home with a low right footed shot giving the goalkeeper no chance to save . A sweet right footed volley from Kristina Erman doubled Slovenia’s advantage , however a stunning strike from Lyudmila Karachik from long range immediately reduced the score .

The tournament resumes on Saturday February 18 , Bulgaria face North Macedonia , Kosovo will play Hong Kong , world cup bound South Africa make their first appearance against Uzbekistan having arrived in the Gold City resort today and Zambia meet Slovenia in a difficult tie .
