NWFL Super 6 Gift Monday fires Bayelsa to the top, Oysterbay relegated in Tanzania

Gift Monday fired a hattrick to send Bayelsa to the top of the table in the Super 6 after the second round of games. Bayelsa cruised to a 4-0 victory over Naija who were playing their first match after a dispute over kit yesterday cost them a forfeit. Nasarawa defeated Edo with Dooshima Tarnum scoring a 7th minute penalty. In the final game of the day defending champions Rivers Angels were held to a goalless draw by Delta Queens. Bayelsa and Nasarawa have 6pts, Delta 2, Edo and Rivers 1pt and Naija 0pts heading to the rest day. Action resumes Thursday morning at 10am when Nawasara play Delta.

Champions Simba Queens resumed winning form as they won 1-0 at JKT Queens via a own goal in the 45th minute by Lionet Lioko. Tiger defeated Ruvuma 4-0, Yanga eased to a 2-0 victory over TSC, Fountain Gate beat Baobab 1-0 thanks to a goal from Winifrida Mugwa and Mlandizi beat Oysterbay 3-1 a result that meant Oysterbay were relegated.

She Corporate and Kampala both won their respective games to take the championship to the final day on Friday, when She Corporate host Kampala. She Corporate won a rain delayed game 1-0 at Relegation threatened Tooro courtesy of a Alomo Whisper goal in the 28th minute. A Resty Nanziri strike give Kampala a 1-0 victory over Olila High School to set up the title showdown. Elsewhere She Maroons were relegated as they suffered a heavy 5-1 defeat at Uganda Martyrs.

Guinness super League action resumes Wednesday with one game as Éclair will host Lekie

In Zambia Red Arrows will host ZISD on Wednesday morning at 10am in a huge game that will determine the second semi finalists from group B. The winner will qualify for the semi finals to face Green Buffaloes. Should the game end in a draw ZISD will still have one game remaining against BUSA Queens. For Red Arrows it is their last regular season game.

The schedule for the CAF Women’s Under 17 Women’s World Cup qualifying is set, it will be the final qualifying round with the three winners Qualifying for the Fifa Women’s Under 17 World Cup in India.

The final day of the season saw Rangers romp to a 3-1 victory over Old Firm rivals Celtic Jane Ross scored a double and Demi Vance struck as Rangers dominated proceedings. With no Relegation this season due to expansion Hearts 3-0 victory over Partick saw them jump over Thistle to finish eighth in the Standings.

Yasa Queens clinched the Zone A first place with a draw against Green Eagles as nearest rivals Red Arrows lost 3-0 at BUSA. It will be a tense week to see see who joins Green Buffaloes and YASA in the Championship play offs to determine the title winner. Indeni gained three points with a walkover victory. The top two teams in each group qualify for the final phase.

Chelsea clinched the double in England in a exciting FA Cup Final that went to extra time after Hatley Raso struck a last gasp equaliser for Manchester City. Sam Kerr opened the scoring in the 38th minute getting a touch on Millie Brights goal bound effort before Lauren Hemp struck a spectacular equaliser to send the teams in to the Half Time interval level at a goal apiece. Erin Cuthbert regained the lead for Chelsea with a stunning 30 yard effort into the top corner before Raso struck to force extra time.   The game was won in the 98th minute when Chelsea broke as Sam Kerr raced into the box taking advantage of defenders backing off as her effort was deflected past the keeper to give Chelsea the lead for the third time in the game.  

Myanmar claimed a semi final berth with a strike from Win Theingi Tun in stoppage time to break the heart of Singapore. Thailand cruised to a 5-0 victory in the second game of the day to top the group and will face Philippines in the semi final.

France claimed the final qualifying spot for the Fifa Women’s Under 17 World Cup in India with two excellent goals from Fanni Rossi and Lucie Calba. Feerine Belhadj produced a string of fine saves to keep the Netherlands at bay and ensure the 2-0 victory.   GERMANY won a thrilling final in a penalty shoot out following a 2-2 draw with Spain. Svea Stoldt opened the scoring in the 15th minute, however Spain levelled the game in the 28th minute when Marina Artero equalised.  Carla Camacho struck her third goal of the tournament to give Spain the lead on 63 minutes before a exceptional late equaliser from Mara Alber on 88 minutes forced the game to penalties. Eve Boettcher became the hero in the penalty shoot out saving three spot kicks including Vicky Lopez effort to give Germany a 8th title.

Barcelona finished a exceptional season in the league campaign ensuring a perfect 30 for 30 90 pts and 159 goals to 11 against as they ended rivals Atlético bid for a spot in next season’s UWCL. Paredes header opened the scoring in 11 minutes, Bonmati doubled the advantage on 23 minutes.  In a temperd game that saw two red cards the first Atletico’s Van Dongen on 59 minutes. Sampedro reduced the deficit on 63 minutes but Atletico could not find the equaliser required despite a late dismissal of Barcelona’s Bonmati to ensure the third position.   Real Madrid took advantage of the loss and snatched third place and a position in next season’s Uefa Women’s Champions League with a 1-0 victory over Villarreal in a nervy display that saw Kosovare Asllani score the only goal of the game from the penalty spot in the 43rd minute.

Vihiga Queens retained the title in Kenya with a 3-1 victory over Zetech Sparks with four rounds remaining. Topister Situma 24 38 minute goals give Vihiga a 2-0 lead before Zetech pulled a goal back, however Immaculate Wangila ensured champagne would be flowing with a 85th minute effort to seal the 3-1 victory.   Kayole moved out of the bottom three with a 1-0 victory over Relegation threatened Bunyore.

Champions Wolfsburg produced a champagne performance blitzing Leverkusen 7-1 including six unanswered first half goals to end the league season in style. Potsdam fell to a 5-0 defeat at Bayern to end the season in disappointing fashion, as Eintracht Frankfurt produced a dominating performance to defeat Werder 4-0 and celebrate clinching their position in next season’s Uefa Women’s Champions League.
