Wafcon 2026 sees two debutants in Malawi and Cabo Verde the tournament will be hosted by Morocco commencing March 17 to April 3 2026. Player release is set for March 9th.

Cabo Verde 🇨🇻 sealed a great result to qualify for the WAFCON 2026., there first appearance in the tournament. Three rapid goals in 10 minutes put them on their way before Evy Pereira struck a clinical finish to make the score 4-1. Oumou Koné scored twice for a disappointing host.

After 180 tense tight minutes that could not separate two well balanced teams Senegal prevailed 5-4 in a penalty shoot out to finalise the twelve teams for Morocco
As of now there is no official statement that the tournament will increase to 16 teams in the 2026 tournament despite many media outlets stating so after the last CAF meeting in Kinshasa.
