Temwa Chawinga, Tabitha Chawinga and Rose Kabzere will miss the friendly matches against South Africa after the association cancelled the invitation last week due to SAFA indicating the games would not proceed.
South Africa association is currently going through financial struggles.
Via Malawi association website Head coach Lovemore Fazili emphasized the importance of these games in preparing for the upcoming WAFCON qualifier against Angola.
“Every international friendly match is crucial for us. These matches will help us develop the team, and I truly appreciate the FA for organizing them. We have been lacking such preparation games, and they make a huge difference,” Fazili said.
Of course, it’s disappointing to miss some players who strengthen our team, but the locally based players are improving and gaining maturity. With the addition of some foreign-based players, we will build a strong team,” he added.
