Ary Papel’s 78th Minute strike sent the tie to penalties after Zimbabwe had struck two first half goals to gain the aggregate advantage. Ethel Chinyerere 35 and Christabel Katona 44 had extinguished Angola’s first leg advantage before Papel struck. Angola won the penalty shoot out 5-4
Equatorial Guinea 1-1 Tanzania (2-4)
Chuigoue Dorine Nina gave the host a early lead to reduce the aggregate defecit however Tanzania held firm and gained in confidence as the tie went on. Enekia Kasonga sealed the 4-2 aggregate win with a excellent strike in the 73rd minute.
Tunisia 0-1 Kenya (0-1)
Lilian Awuor was Kenya’s heroine saving two penalties after Tereza Engesha had struck a 4th minute opening goal to give Kenya the advantage which they held out for a 1-0 aggregate victory to advance to the next round to face Gambia.
Burkina Faso 4-1 Burundi (5-1)
Adélle Naomie Kabre struck a exceptional hattrick as Burkina Faso stormed into the second round 5-1 on aggregate. Charlotte Milogo also found the net with a excellent effort from distance. Esperance Habonimana scored a consolation for Burundi.
Togo 5-0 Djibouti (10-0)
Togo completed a 10-0 aggregate rout of Djibouti with a excellent controlled display with Odette Gnintegma 81 87 striking a brace highlighting a fine team performance.
RD Congo 0-0 Botswana (2-0)
The two played out a hard fought goalless draw as RD Congo held on to their first leg 2-0 advantage to advance to face South Africa in the second round in October.
Cape Verde 4-1 Guinea (6-3)
Cape Verde responded to a rousing crowd with Ivania Moreira rounding off a fine team move í the 11th minute. Evy Pereira scored a quick fire brace on 22 and 28 minutes to put the host firmly in control. Guinea responded immediately Marie Câmara finding the target on 30 minutes. Varsénia da Luz sealed the win with a late strike on 88 minutes to complete a 6-3 aggregate victory.
Sierra Leone 1-3 Benin (2-5)
Benin produced a excellent performance to see off Sierra Leone dominating much of the game however it took to the 40th minute to open the scoring when Marguerite Ahouassou struck. Germaine Honfo soon doubled the advantage on 44 minutes. A tight second half was played before Aude Gbedjissi scored on 90+4 minutes. Kumba Zainab Brima scored a late consolation on 90+6 minutes for Sierra Leone.
Gambia 2-1 Niger (10-1)
Goals from Mbassey Darboe 11 and a excellent strike from Fatou Kanteh 24 sealed Gambia’s passage to the second round. Faouzia Ahmed Sidi pulled a goal back on 24 minutes but Gambia held onto their 4-1 aggregate advantage to advance with ease.
Mali 4-1 Gabon (10-1)
Mali again dominated the Gabon outfit with powerful running adding 4 more goals to their 6-0 first leg advantage. Agueissa Diarra opened the scoring from the penalty spot on 22 minutes before Salamatu Diarra rounded off a excellent move on 36 minutes. Coulouba Sogore added a third on 43 minutes before a spirited Laschwana Assengone Mvie scored a consolation for Gabon on 80 minutes. Mali Sprung back to life and Aissata Tapily completed the scoring two minutes later for a 10-1 aggregate victory
Egypt 2-2 Rwanda (3-2)
Egypt got off to a fast start and immediately added to their 1-0 first leg advantage when Menna Tarek headed home a excellent cross. Rwanda responded Usanase Zawadi fired low into the corner on 28 minutes to cut the defecit. Habiba Essam then put Egypt ahead with a well executed effort on 68 minutes before Zawadi completed her brace with her second deep into stoppage time. Egypt ran out the remaining minute to advance 3-2 on aggregate in a very entertaining contest.
Algeria 3-0 South Sudan (8-0)

Uganda seemed to be holding to their first leg 2-0 advantage comfortably until Fazila Ikwaput received a second yellow on 56 minutes in what appeared to be a innocuous challenge. Ethiopia gained wind from the player advantage and Aregash Kalsa struck on 66 minutes before the dramatic finale. Ethiopia won the penalty shoot out 5-4 to advance to face Tanzania.
