Following Brazil’s exit from the world Cup, Marta gave a speech on the pitch which most in the world interpretated as a speech to the youth of Brazil. It Like most i took it as speaking to players like Lara, Nubia, Marília, down to Jujuba a 11yo girl who made her own fame as recently seen on fifa media pages.
However the speech did not go down to well with some members of the Brazil camp and some players wished she had not done it. Players from the squad had heated exchanges and on tv in Brazil there was debate during which again they felt it was against them.
The incident passed quickly however as the arrival of Pia Sundhage as Head coach of the women’s team has bought a ressurgance of new confidence in the squad and very high numbers of tv audiences in the domestic games that was shown on tv, the interest of the women’s game is at a all time high in the country.
